An established community mental health and substance abuse agency serving Kennebec and Somerset Counties for over  30 years,  Youth & Family Services, Inc is located in the beautiful Central Maine, Kennebec Valley region.  Our main office and shelter are located in Skowhegan, the Somerset County seat.  We also have a satellite office in Augusta, the Maine State Capitol.  Our changing seasons offer recreational opportunities that include camping, skiing, backpacking, white water rafting, fishing, hunting and snowmobile riding.  We are within driving distance of the ocean, mountains, forests and fields.  Educational opportunities are within an hour  ride of our main office.  Colby College, Thomas College and Kennebec Valley Community College are located 15 minutes from Skowhegan or Waterville.  The University of Maine Campus's at Augusta and Orono, are both within an hour ride of our main office.  The central Maine region hosts a number of excellent community theaters, art galleries and summer workshops in the arts.

Town government is still practiced in Central Maine with annual town meetings where every citizen has the opportunity to be heard and vote on every aspect of town life.  Our communities enjoy a level of safety and family orientation that has disappeared in other states.  We are nationally rated as one of the best states in which to raise children.  It's easy to see why once you live here, you never want to leave.

Youth & Family Services, Inc. offers a competitive benefits package that includes an Employee Health Insurance package paid by the employer.  Section 125 Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and/or 403B contributions.  Short and Long term disability with life insurance rider of one years salary.   Annual leave, vacation/sick combined, earned at the rate of 16 hours per month until 5th year and 20 hours per month thereafter.  12 paid holidays as recognized by the State of Maine plus 1 floating holiday.  Training funds are set aside for employees when available (currently up to $500.00 per year)

Children's Case Manager

We have an immediate opening for a Case Manager in our Augusta Office for our children's case management program that serves Kennebec County. The Case Manager works with children with mental health diagnosis and their families to coordinate appropriate services in the child's community. Seeking a LSW or eligibility with a Bachelor's degree in mental health related field. Three years experience working with children with mental illness is preferred. Training, supervision and fringe package provided. Salary $26,000-$27,000.


These positions qualify for waiver of Federal Perkins Loans.

Behavioral Health Clinician

We are accepting applications from clinicians with dual credentialing in Mental Health and Substance Abuse treatment, specifically, LADCs, LCPCs and LCSWs for the provision of general mental health and substance abuse outpatient services in our Skowhegan office on a per diem basis. YFS offers real time reimbursement for direct service and offers flexible scheduling time frames. Newly licensed individuals welcome. Excellent supervision and a diversified caseload are offered.

Halcyon House, a 24 hour emergency shelter for adolescents located in Skowhegan Maine, is now accepting resumes for Part Time and Relief Staff positions.  These positions are on a per diem basis and pay $   10.30    an hour.  If you have a valid Maine driver's license, a high school diploma or GEED, a current physical exam record, and a desire to serve your community by assisting youths in need, then send a letter and resume to:
